Commission Recruiting – Application Deadline January 10th 2025

Due to the November 2024 election results, our Village has an opening on the Forest & Beach and the Planning Commissions. These Commissions hold critical and important responsibilities in keeping our Village what we call home. Effective the December 9th swearding in ceremony, Hans Buder formerly on the Forest & Beach Commission and Bob Delves, formerly on the Planning Commission are now serving as City Council Members. 

The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea is now accepting applications for the openings our new Council Members have left open and available for local citizens. Forest & Beach Commission

  • Who can apply? Applicants may reside in the City or its Sphere of Influence.

  • Meetings: Second Thursday of the month, 2:30 PM 

Planning Commission

  • Who can apply? Must be a resident of the City.

  • Meetings: Second Wednesday of the month, 4:00 PM

Deadline for recept of applications: 

Friday, January 10, 2025, by 5:00 PM. Applications can be emailed or dropped off to the City Clerk.

Selection Process:

  • Interviews with the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will take place mid-to-late January (date TBD).

  • Appointment recommendations will be made at the February City Council meeting.
