Celebrating 37 Years of Community Service

City Budget FY 2024/2025 & City Council - "Show Me the Money"

With this as everyone's favorite topic, the City is approaching the last mile to approve this coming fiscal year's budget at the Tuesday June 4th Regular City Council Meeting at 4:30 PM in Council Chambers. HERE is this upcoming meeting Agenda packet.
This is likely the last opportunity to provide public comment on this important use of dollars coming in & going out for the upcoming 12 months - pointing out that a mid-year review is a part of the routine public process.  And the earlier the inputs are provided the more likely changes can be implemented.
At the May 21st Budget Workshop, there was a good exchange on cost saving considerations, including possible suggestions on postponable Capital (building/infrastructure) projects. And they also reviewed "Fund Balance" utilization across Restricted, Reserved & Unassigned categories that was insightful to better understand available unspent dollars. Documents, presentations, videos from this May 21st session are on our CRA Budgets webpage.

Our Village Security Cameras (Flock)

A Flock Camera Ad Hoc and Community Input/Update session is set for Monday July 10th at 4PM in Council Chambers with review of the systems, process, policy, placement etc.  Visit our CRA webpage for prior meetings, press and other background information that may helpful. Please join in this meeting to ask your questions on this rollout and use.

Our Village Forest/Trees

A Community Workshop was held May 24th gathering structured feedback to aid in guiding the work-in-progress Forest Master Plan revisions. This Workshop had great attendance and as one point our community provided resounding reinforcements to focus on only native trees.  The materials and findings from this workshop are posted on our CRA webpage and the City website.
Join in at the upcoming Thursday June 13th Forest & Beach Commission meeting 3:30 PM in City Chambers, where they are planning a review of the results from the workshop and will explore the next steps.

Our Village Parking & New State Requirements

Yet again our representatives in Sacramento have delivered a "one size fits all" approach to parking this time.  AB413 limits parking on the approach side to downtown sidewalks for pedestrian safety (a worthy goal). A Community Update Session was held May 29th, to provide more insights on this legislation and its potential impact to the scarce parking available in our Village.  Additional work is underway to prepare for the Community Planning Commission and City Council updates are expected in the month(s) to come. Please visit our CRA Parking webpage for materials from this meeting, and added background and press coverage that will be helpful as we look to learn more over the months to come.

Our Village Police Station Project Update

The next public review/listening session is set for Thursday June 6th at 3:30 in Council Chambers. In this session, Paul Tomasi will be reviewing the needs and wants of his team, as requested in the prior project listening session in early May.  All of the background, documents, videos etc are shown on our CRA Police Building Project webpage.
