CRA’s Do Not Miss Events in September 

  • CRA Members Only Beach GatheringSunday Sept 11th 4-6PM at Cooke’s Cove at the base of the Scenic & 13th Avenue stairs - For details visit our CRA page here.  Join us to mingle, engage and enjoy a beverage!
  • CRA Candidates Forum  - Wednesday Sept 21 6:30 doors open with our robust panel session to run from 7PM to 8:30PM, at Carmel Woman’s Club. This Forum is open to the public, with everyone welcome.  Get to know these City candidates before your ballot arrives.  Sam Farr, our former US Congressman, will moderate this lively discussion. Important City and Community Initiatives 

Stop Cell Towers in Carmel Neighborhoods  - Noteworthy is the Sept 14th Planning Commission Meeting where the City draft ordinance will be initially reviewed by the Commissioners and the Public. City Planning is expecting to make their draft public in the coming week+ for community preview and comment preparations.  Your voice in this Sept 14th Commission meeting is critical.   (For more, visit the CRA Cell Tower page here) 

Carmel Architecture - Design Traditions Project Update

    • Ulrika Plaza (“the Pit”) revised design community input session was postponed for later in the fall.

    • Design Traditions 1.5, next update will promote the date, time & place for the upcoming Design Tradition “Project Directions” sessions planned for late September/early October.  This will summarize the results of the Workshops, Citizens Correspondence & City Survey.

    • And of related interest, the Carmel Historic Context Statement, with our Village history with building styles, architects and more over the years has been updated and approved by the Historic Resources Board yesterday.  This is great and architecture-relevant reading, HERE. 

Next Carmel City Council Meeting on September 13th 4:30PM

    • Due to Labor Day week, the date of the regular City Council Meeting is Tuesday September 13th.  This meeting will include a new look at the Strategic Priorities list, with updates on items completed, underway and possibly new items to consider.  And it will include a Carmel Beach Fire Program update too.  

CRA’s routine out and about in our Village – August & September 

  • CRA Beach Clean Up – Saturdays' Aug 20th and Sept 17th – Please join us every 3rd Saturday from 9:30 to Noon, March through October

  • CRA at Farmers Market – Thursdays' Aug 25th and Sept 28th Every last Thursday where your CRA Board hosts a Community Table from 10AM – 2PM,

  • Plus, CRA will also have a table at the upcoming City’s Community Organizations Event Thursday Sept 22nd from 11-2 in Devendorf Park (Same day as Farmers Market).  A great opportunity to learn about the many non-profit and volunteer organizations throughout the Carmel-by-the-Sea area.
