Your Membership Matters - the CRA Annual Meetings

May 18th 2023 5:30-8:30 PM - CRA's Annual Meeting

What’s Up In Our Village - with a Chip & Dave Q&A

Yearly our CRA Board invited us all to gather where we update our membership and look for your feedback live and in person, including  beverages and finger foods.  We also announced and presented our Business Recognition awards at this meeting, honoring Café Carmel and our great Carmel Public Library with a Lifetime Achievement.
Not unlike many years back, our Village Mayor Dave Potter and Administrator Chip Rerig were our honored guests.  Here is how it went!

Graeme Robertson, our CRA President and Host, opened our annual meeting reinforcing our appreciation for our >850 members - especially welcoming 40 new members just since this January!
Board Member - Tom Parks extended CRA's appreciation for the Carmel Public Library with a Lifetime Achievement Award - graciously received by Ashlee Wright - Director of Library and Activities for our Village. For more details included on this on this certificate click here.
Board Member - Cindy Lloyd shared the story of Sarah Cook as her life and times opened the door to her as the proprietor of Café Carmel embracing this locations' Village provenance receiving this year's the Business Recognition Award. For more on Sarah's award and story click here.  Note: Café Carmel also provides CRA members an offer in our VIP program.
As promised, Graeme then welcomed our Mayor Dave Potter and City Administrator Chip Rerig for our Q&A - beginning with their opening comments on the state of the Village and then and expanded Q&A centering on the challenges ahead with the preparation of the upcoming Housing Element to meet our RHNA allocation and the critical needs for water, retaining local control and more.  Keeping local control of zoning and land use in lieu of State mandates is essential to the charm and character of our Village.  Visit our Housing webpage for the latest on this Village critical effort.
Graeme then thanked Chip and Dave, and asked them how CRA members can show our appreciation to the City Staff, Boards and Commissions. They replied asking us all to simply say thank you in person (and an email reinforcement is also a good follow-up).  Graeme closed the program, inviting everyone to enjoy the food, beverages and mingling with all!

'Till this time next year!

The following was the advanced meeting information provided to our members in 2022

Yes, it’s all about the Carmel Residents Association Members. Hear the latest on CRA programs, content and more. Hear from your all-volunteer CRA Board, both new and renewing ones. And most importantly, we need to hear from you. So come prepared with your questions on the challenges and opportunities for our Village and your organization ahead.

As we emerge from the pandemic, carefully, our Village residents and stakeholders all look to catch up on many projects and efforts City-wide that were placed on pause. But until there is new magic in time and space – careful prioritization is needed by one and all. Let’s be creative and smart on what is possible. What are your ideas on how we can all make Carmel-by-the-Sea a great residential Village for many decades to come?

Yes, in this meeting you hear about your membership benefits, why we do what we do, and of course how you can participate. No pre-registration required.  For CRA members only.
