Monday February 2nd, 3PM - City Council - Full Agenda Packet HERE
A significant item is the last topic. * AB413 Update - Daylighting Law – This law decreased our commercial district parking at key intersections by 40. This update and discussion can consider speed limit reduction that requires a traffic engineering study, and following returning some/all of the red-curbs to parking spaces, etc. The staff Report is HERE. Tuesday February 3rd - City Council - Full Agenda Packet HERE
* Receive a presentation on the Updated Council Strategic Priorities list following the January 22nd workshop, and provide direction to staff - HERE is staff report; HERE is the Clean Priority Tracker. Staff is: Seeking Clarification, Assigning Priority (level 1, 2 or 3), and Moving Items as appropriate to future projects - all considering capacity/resources. * Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Increase discussion and direction for potential 2026 Ballot Measure - HERE. This tax (that requires a public vote to be changed from the current 10% rate) is paid by Village Hotel guests as a percent of the room rate.

All will have follow-up Council review to next steps, classifications and/or decisions. Item #3 resulted in approval of J.DiNucci for this Commission/Board.

1.Requesting approval of Roofing Materials policy HERE 2.Receive Update on Design Traditions 1.5 Project staff report HERE, slides HERE and more are on the CRA page HERE Findings On #1 request clarification on the decision needed by Council. Is this policy, process or substance of actual roofing materials authorized including color pallet? This will be revisited by Staff for next step. On #2 this concluded with guidance to surge Planning Department, Planning Commission & Steering Committee resources to come back with their version recommendation and added work on the Steering Committee's draft - before Council can make decisions and recomend a timeline for completion of this extended effort.
January 14 - Community Workshop on Objective Design & Development Standards (ODDS) - initially for ADU's.
This was an introductory workshop clarifying ODDS and what they do and don't provide. Future Workshops will include concepts. HERE are the Slides shared and discussed by the Consultant, City Staff and Community Attendees. HERE is the YouTube from this Workshop
January 13 - HCD/Sacramento's formal feedback on our Housing Element Amendment is posted on our CRA HERE. City anticipates making these minor clarifications and submit to the public for the required 7 day comment period early this coming week, prior to resubmission to HCD for final approval. Once received from HCD this will go before the Planning Commission and City Council for final Adoption.
January 23 - Addresses Map Preview - Walk in Session (another one coming)

NOTE: Until the addresses are fully implemented by Monterey County and USPS - they will not be usable by any property owner. This is targeted for May but official timing will come via City Staff.

Carmel Art Association - Community Plea
As covered in today's Carmel Pine Cone cover article HERE, this invaluable historic resource is requesting support to help fund this restoration project. (quote from article)
" Carmel Foundation undertook roughly $600,000 worth of shoring and repairs that were completed a couple of months ago — redoing the interior of a damaged apartment is next — and the art association launched a campaign in October 2025 to raise $400,000 to restore the foundation of its historic building and repair its sagging floors and cracking walls and ceiling."

Our Coastal Waters are enticing, beautiful, entertaining, rejuvenating and full of great wildlife. Sadly, as has been covered in the news in recent times there have been people lost at Sea from our local beaches - within a very few miles of our Village. Please follow these recommendations as you enjoy these waters.
